Really? Contact Lenses No Prescription?

Author: <a target="_blank" title="Mayoor Patel" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'mayoor-patel/6074">Mayoor Patel

Believe it or not, some people actually wear contact lenses without a prescription. Such lenses are used for a variety of purposes; it is just that none of those happens to be eyesight correction. Instead, they will buy them for cosmetic or costume purposes. So exactly what types of lenses no prescription necessary can possibly be out there? The truth is that there are a lot. Consider some of these examples and you will see why lenses that are ordered with no prescription are quickly growing in popularity.

One type of lenses no prescription necessary that is available is the colored contact lens. Colored lenses offer people an easy and very natural looking option for changing their eye color. Whether it is to match an outfit or to simply give themselves a new look, colored lenses are perfect for many people. Since most colored contacts are offered with a no vision correction option, they can be ordered online without a prescription. So even those with no correction needed can change their eye color if they so desire.

For costumes, theater, or special effects in performance, many people purchase what are called special effects contacts. These lenses are available without a prescription because they do not offer correction of vision in most cases. On the other hand, there are some companies that do require some sort of medical waiver. Since many of the special effects lenses can hurt unhealthy eyes, the companies want a doctor to give you a clean bill of health before allowing you to use them. So what are special effects lenses exactly? They can be all black lenses, glow in the dark lenses, red contacts, cat eye contacts, and even contacts that make your eye look like it has a cross in the pupil. All of these may be used only for special occasions, but they do make for a good enough of an effect that the market is growing.

As you can see, there is a lot out there when it comes to contact lenses no prescription required. These types of contacts can be ordered online or through eyewear stores without a prescription when no site correction is being done by the contacts. Whether it is colored contacts for the vain or special effect contacts for the theatrical, contact lenses without a prescription are certainly gaining popularity. Are you ready for the trend?

Proper Way Of Planting A Flower Garden

Author: <a target="_blank" title="taamiv" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'taamiv/316424">taamiv

Many processes and activities are involved in planting a flower garden. The best time to start planting a flower garden is in the fall season, however, you can start planting a flower in whatever season you want but fall season is the most appropriate one to consider if you want to plant a flower garden.

This is all about planting a flower garden and not about gardening so we will focus on planting. If you are ready with the garden soil and everything else then the planting should be done in the afternoon or evening, because next day you want make sure that your newly planted plants get sufficient amount of sunlight.

Make sure that you have enough space available so you can walk properly within your garden while planting. Make sure that you don’t walk over the plants which you have just planted or they will be dead before they start to grow.
It is now time to plant the flowers in the garden. Get a spade and start planting the plants in your flower garden. Use something like a bucket of water or a can to dip the water out of the garden. Start planting from the middle, it will make planting much easier for you. Dig a deep hole in order to properly the plant the roots. Steady the plant with one hand and with the other hand pack the soil around the roots. Mound the soil, so when the plants start spreading its roots the roots do not get out of the ground.

Make sure to keep some space between the plants. If you plant your plants closely, then they will lapse when they will start to grow. Although it looks very beautiful when you plant the flowers near to each other but it is the most common mistake made by people. Considering the beauty factor is fine but considering the health and life of your flowers in the flower garden is of even more importance. So make sure that you are not the one out of those people who make this small mistake which proves to a major one after a while.

If you follow the above mentioned guidelines and information then I am sure that your flower garden will grow smoothly and your flowers will remain healthy for a long period of time. Make sure that you don’t overlook any of the aspects discussed in the above mentioned passages.

How Many After School Activities are too Many?

Author: <a target="_blank" title="Alicia Bowyer" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'alicia-bowyer/139671">Alicia Bowyer

Teenagers are involved in so many activities these days. There are sports – one for each season of the year – that require them to attend practice as well as games. There’s band practice and games to play at as well as band competitions. Then, if they’re involved in any school clubs – FBLA, FHA, FFA, FCA, or foreign language clubs – they’ll have activities for those, too. How many after school activities are too many?

Do your children and teen’s activities have you running every day of the week? With younger children you’ll be responsible for taking them to scout meetings or to various practices. As they grow up and learn to drive, they can get back and forth on their own. But how do you decide which activities should stay and which should go?

Have your children been having problems completing their homework because they’re not home? Are their grades failing because they’re not doing their schoolwork or are too tired to concentrate in class? If so, you may want to consider making some changes to your family’s schedule.

Maybe you weren’t able to participate in something you wanted to do when you were younger. This may have clouded your thinking to allow your children to participate in too many extracurricular activities. Perhaps it’s time to reduce the number of things you allow your children to do.

You may want to take a serious look at the amount of time your family spends away from home. Ask each person to write down on a piece of paper all of the different things they do, when they meet, and how long the meetings are. This might include sports, band, religious activities, scouting, volunteer obligations, and parent’s business meetings.

After you’ve seen just how many activities each person is involved in, you may see the need to reduce how much time each family member spends away from home. Perhaps each person should be limited to one activity per season. Instead of allowing one person to participate in a sport and band or choir, have them choose one or the other.

If your child or teen is an athlete, their team is depending upon them to show up for practices and for each game. If they decide not to continue to play that sport after the season is over, that’s okay. However, deciding to quit in the middle of the season would affect the rest of the team. It would be better to let another activity go if they are away from home too much.

When trying to decide how many after school activities are too many, don’t forget to include your own activities. You may be too busy after work to enjoy time with your family. Your goal may be to allow the children, teens, and adults in your family to learn and enjoy activities. However, you may learn that too many activities makes the parents busy chauffeurs and children tired.

Amazon Parrots - Nature's Eloquent Chatterboxes

Author: <a target="_blank" title="Mike Bordon" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'mike-bordon/273793">Mike Bordon

Amazon-parrots are the best talking parrots that you can get as a pet and the double yellow headed amazon and blue fronted amazon are definitely some of the best and most intelligent of the species. Native to South America, Mexico and the Caribbean, the average life expectancy of amazon parrots is a whopping 40 to 80 years.

Like their name implies, double yellow headed amazons are green with bright yellow heads, although blue and lutino mutations can occur naturally. The feathers on their heads have the ability to rise up to make their heads look double their usual size when they are excited.

They are excellent at mimicking human speech and will learn how to talk very quickly. Their intelligence also makes them particularly good at learning tricks and their love of performance makes them a very entertaining pet bird to have. Although they need some daily attention, they can entertain themselves for long periods of time if supplied with enough toys. This makes them much less time-consuming than other parrots.

Blue fronted amazons are also incredibly intelligent and quick to pick up human speech patterns. The only downside of amazons is that they do go through a bluffing stage as they mature, in which they can become aggressive. However, they can quickly outgrow this phase through good training and handling and will become very fun and affectionate pets.

Like all amazon parrots, blue fronted amazons are prone to becoming obese if they eat too much and exercise too little. Therefore, it is important to let your parrot out of its cage every so often so that it can stretch its wings and work off some of the food you have been feeding it. You can also manage your amazon parrot's weight by cutting nuts and fruits out of its diet, or at least keeping them to a minimum.

Solar Roof Shingles

Author: <a target="_blank" title="Virgin Sam" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'virgin-sam/166678">Virgin Sam

Many people are now waking up to the call of renewable energy as an alternative to oil which is not only harmful to our mother earth but costly. Among the most commonly alternative sources of energy is solar energy. Solar panels are already popular with most of the people. They are normally fitted on the roofs to tap solar rays which are then converted to electric energy. The latest technology which uses the same analogy is solar roofing shingles.

Solar roofing shingles are roofing materials made of photovoltaic cells that are able to take in solar energy from the sun. Just like the solar panels, the rays are converted into electric energy and stored into backups. The electric energy can then be used for residential as well as commercial requirements. Solar shingles are laid on the house roof just like the sheets or tiles, not only to shield your roof but also supplying you with electricity to power your home.

Photovoltaic technology unlike most power - generating technologies is friendly to the environment. The shingles are coated with thin film to absorb sun’s rays without causing environmental pollution, no noise and require no fuel to run them other than the sun. Solar shingles can save you more than 60% of your monthly power costs.

There are a number of benefits that come with solar shingles. They give you the same durability, protection and flexibility as asphalt shingles. When it comes to their outlook appearance, they are attractive. They are made to conform to the standard roof for the normal house constructions. They come in a variety of shades giving you an option to choose your favorite. In fact, many people like the aesthetic beauty that they provide to the house roof. With solar roof shingles, you don’t have to worry about roofing materials as they provide perfect roofing shingles. Solar shingles are light in weight and the cost of Installations is normally low.

Before fixing solar shingles on your house roof, there are a number of things you need to put into considerations. First, you need to ask yourself if you really need them. Most certainly, you do. You can fix them either on a new house that had not been roofed or you can replace existing roof with the solar shingles as a source of electricity for your house. In either case, the shingles need to be fixed carefully. They should be fixed on the sides that receive sunlight most and areas that are free from shades. Depending on your energy requirements as well as financial ability, the whole roof or part of it can be roofed with solar shingles.

Many governments are advocating for the use of renewable energy sources. As a result, they have subsidized solar energy equipments to encourage more people to turn to this alternative source of energy which is eco friendly as opposed to the oil-based energy sources. You need to check out with the relevant authorities and see if such grants are available in your area.

What Are Organic And Free Range Eggs?

Author: <a target="_blank" title="Davinos Greeno" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'davinos-greeno/12204">Davinos Greeno

Britons are buying record numbers of Free Range, Barn and Organic Eggs. Research shows shoppers bought 2.04billion of them last year, up from 1.64billion in 2002 (Article from the Daily Mail - 09/08/2006).

The Benefits of Eating Eggs

Eggs are low in calories and could actually protect against heart disease, breast cancer and eye problems and even help you to lose weight. Eggs are actually good for you. They are rich in nutrients, one egg provides 13 essential nutrients, all in the yolk (egg whites contain albumen, an important source of protein, and no fat). You should keep eggs in the fridge in their box and eat them by the use-by date.

We now know the benefits of eating eggs but does the welfare of the chickens matter? Davinos Greeno investigates the eggy world of production systems.

Eggs are produced in 3 types of production systems.

1) Laying Cage System. Laying cages are the most common method of commercial egg production in the UK - representing around 66% of eggs produced in 2004.

Typically a laying cage system consists of a series of at least three tiers of cages. The cages have sloping mesh floors so that the eggs roll forward out of the reach of the birds to await collection. Droppings pass through the mesh floors onto boards, belts, the floors of the house or into a pit to await removal.

2) Barn system. Around 7% of eggs sold in the UK are produced in the barn system. In the barn system the hen house has a series of perches and feeders at different levels. In the deep litter system the birds are kept in hen houses in which all the floor area should be solid with a litter of straw, wood shavings, sand or turf.

3) Free range system. The free range system accounts for around 27% of eggs produced in the UK. And the Welfare of Laying Hens Directive stipulate that for eggs to be termed free range, hens must have continuous daytime access to runs which are mainly covered with vegetation and with a maximum stocking density of 2,500 birds per hectare. The demand for free-range eggs is also growing by 10 per cent a year. Somerfield will be the first supermarket in the country to switch to selling French free-range eggs. Tesco is also understood to be lining up suppliers on the Continent if it is not able to guarantee supplies at home due to this rising demand. The cost of opening a free-range unit can be as much as

Indoor Gardeners Experience Many Benefits From the Supernova LED Grow Light

Author: <a target="_blank" title="Susan Slobac" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'susan-slobac/20177">Susan Slobac

Indoor gardeners are agog with the introduction of the latest LED grow light to hit the market--the Supernova LED. This family of LED grow lights offers improved light output for a fraction of the cost of using HID or other ordinary types of grow lights. Gardeners are impressed with its light coverage, increased light spectrum control, and cool running temperatures, among a wealth of improvements it brings to ordinary grow lamps.

The Supernova grow light offers an increased light coverage when compared with other LED grow lights. While other good LED grow lights offer a three foot by three foot area with good light coverage, the Supernova LED adds an additional two feet to that, for a total of five square feet of coverage area. These grow lights are designed to be space saving yet very powerful. The Supernova LED achieves this large coverage through the clever use of seven individual circuit boards. This allows the light to flow out of the unit at different angles, and this unique design provides for its improved light coverage that your plants will appreciate.

When you purchase an ordinary grow lamp, it comes with a particular color temperature and color tone built in. This is also the case with the Supernova LED grow light, but with the major benefit of allowing you the flexibility to change the color spectrum as you wish. This is accomplished through independently adjustable spectrum control. In addition to this flexibility, the Supernova LED also comes in an enhanced spectrum version, providing you with six more custom LED light spectrums at your fingertips. While young plants require the blue light spectrum for growth, mature plants need red and orange light in order to produce fruits and flowers, so if you can adjust your light to meet their specific needs, they will experience much better growth rates. This unique light allows you to fine tune your light to exactly what your plants require, unlike any other grow light available.

Ordinary grow lights have a side effect, after being on for a length of time, of increasing heat temperature, so much so that extra equipment must be used so that the lighting equipment does not overheat and malfunction. LED grow lights such as the Supernova LED avoid this issue because they have fans built into the units. This keeps the Supernova LED lights cool, and avoids entirely the need for ducting and air-cooled reflectors, which offers a tremendous cost savings to the the indoor gardener. The grower can use these funds to purchase hydroponics supplies and equipment for other areas of their gardening enterprise.

A Supernova LED grow light is a new innovation in indoor gardening lighting that will offer superb lighting for your plants while saving you money.

The Mountain Bluebird

Author: <a target="_blank" title="Jay Schindler" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'jay-schindler/78682">Jay Schindler

The Nevada State bird is the Mountain Bluebird, which is also known as the Sialia currucoides. It is an impeccably beautiful bird. The Nevada State bird is a medium sized bird which is mostly an insectivorous or omnivorous bird in the genus Sialia of the thrush family Turdiae.

The adult Mountain Bluebird has thin bills. The adult males are bright blue in colour and somewhat lighter in colour underneath. On the other hand the female adult Mountain Blue birds are a duller shade of blue, even their wings are of a dull blue colour and so is its tail. The females and the males both have a grey coloured breast, a grey crown as well as the throat and the back. They are a combination of blue and grey which makes them extremely gorgeous.

The Nevada State bird comes from one of the relatively few thrush groups. As the name Mountain Bluebird implies, they are very attractive birds. There is no noticeable difference in the size between both the sexes of the species as they are all medium-sized.

Their breeding habitat is in the open country across the western North America, which includes mountainous areas as far north as Alaska. These birds usually nest in cavities or in nest boxes. In more remote areas, these birds are not likely to be affected by competition for natural nesting locations than the other bluebirds.

The Mountain Bluebirds migrate to the southern parts of the range; as southern birds are permanent dwellers. However, some of these birds may move to lower elevation in the winter season because of the climatic conditions.

The Nevada State birds hover and fly over the ground. They are mostly seen flying down to catch insects, and also flies that perch to catching them. They basically feed on insects and berries. In the winters they are seen foraging in flocks.

These birds are highly territorial and will most probably clash with other songbirds that compete with their nesting and food resources. They usually prefer grasslands that are scattered with abundant trees. Under most favourable weather conditions, this is mostly during the springtime; these birds produce two broods of young that amount to being about four to five eggs per clutch. The males build a number of nests for the females, and then it is the female that decides on the ultimate nesting location. Most of the individual Nevada state birds that wish to build and mount nesting boxes for bluebirds place predator baffles that are approximately 36 inches in length on the poles to prevent predation of their young by snakes, cats and raccoons. The non-native other bluebirds that compete with these birds for nesting locations include the house wren and the house sparrow, both of which have been known to kill the young Mountain Bluebirds.

Bird-Watching for Bird Cage Enthusiasts: Tips for Beginners

Author: <a target="_blank" title="Kasan Groupe" 'href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/'kasan-groupe/284232">Kasan Groupe

If you you can easily gaze for hours at birds as they play in their bird cages, if you love to be outdoors and if you admire the wonders of Mother Nature then bird-watching may be for you. It takes a certain level of knowledge and practice to become an expert bird-watcher. If you’re interested in this hobby but aren’t sure where to start, check out my tips for identifying and differentiating between bird species below.

The first thing you should do is invest in a bird identification guide. There are many quality guides out there so just head to your local bookstore and pick one up that relates your particular region and interests.

Next purchase a good set of binoculars. They will help you to identify minute physical characteristics and mannerisms. They will help you to hone in on your recognition skills.

Next find a good place to start your bird-watching. In most cases, your very own backyard will be perfect. It will be a convenient location and you can easily spend hours and hours discovering native birds in your area.

After you’ve been watching for a while, consider joining a bird-watching club or group. Many people are surprised to find out that it is an incredibly popular hobby so it’s highly likely that there is at least one group with your city limits.

Practice, practice, practice! The best way for you to become an expert is to bird-watch all of the time. Keep a journal and write down what you see so that you can cross-reference it with your guide book. Eventually you’ll be able to identify birds without the use of an outside source.
